Take stock of your jewellery the smarter way.
Less time spent on stocktakes. More control over your stock.
Counting rings, watches and bracelets by hand takes time and demands precision. With RFID you read multiple pieces at once, and PrismaNote brings the count straight into your digital stock management.

Wireless identification for every single piece.
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification: a technology that identifies items wirelessly via a chip in an RFID tag. For jewellers that matters, because every piece has to be registered individually — from gold rings and diamond jewellery to watches.
Every item gets a unique identification code. Combined with stocktaking software, RFID helps you run stock checks more efficiently and makes differences between recorded and counted stock visible in your jewellery inventory management.

Read multiple pieces at once — no aiming required.
A compatible RFID handheld reads every tagged item within range in a single sweep. No more finding, aiming at and scanning each barcode separately — ideal for display cases, drawers and large watch collections.
- Read multiple compatible UHF RFID tags at once
- Every physical item uniquely identifiable
- Each count logged with date, location and user
The actual read range depends on the equipment, the tags and the conditions in your shop.
The benefits of RFID stocktaking for jewellers
Count your stock faster
Instead of scanning every item one by one, a suitable RFID handheld reads multiple RFID tags at once. That saves time above all with large collections, display cases and stock drawers.
Every piece its own identity
Even with several identical rings or watches, each physical item gets its own RFID identification. So you can tell individual pieces apart, not just product types.
Fewer manual steps
No more pointing each item at a barcode scanner. Stocktaking becomes more practical and the risk of human input errors can go down.
Clearer view of stock discrepancies
After reading, the stocktake data goes to the PrismaNote cloud. You check the recorded quantities and then process the counted stock.
Ready for a modern jewellery shop
RFID is a logical next step for jewellers who want to digitise their stock processes further and spend less time on recurring admin.
Which RFID equipment do you need?
Printer, tags, scanner and software together form one process. The right combination is essential — so we check in advance whether the equipment and tags you have in mind suit the way you work. See also our hardware for jewellers.

RFID label printer
Creates labels and writes the identification code to the RFID chip. Required: a compatible RFID printer with encoding function and 300 dpi resolution.
RFID tags for jewellery
Suited to the RFID technology used and with enough memory capacity. Not every tag is compatible with every reader or application.
RFID handheld
Reads the RFID tags and collects the data during a stocktake. The reader must be supported and tested by PrismaNote.
PrismaNote RFID software
The labelling software ensures unique identification per item; the stocktaking software processes the counts and sends them to the PrismaNote cloud.
How does RFID work with PrismaNote?
From applying tags to processing the stocktake: four steps.
- 1
Tag your jewellery with RFID
Print and encode RFID tags with a suitable RFID label printer. Each physical item gets a unique code linked to the right item in your records.
- 2
Read multiple items at once
With a compatible RFID handheld you read the tags present wirelessly. Read range depends on the equipment, the tags and the conditions in the shop.
- 3
Send the count to PrismaNote
The stocktaking software sends the counted items and quantities over Wi-Fi to the PrismaNote cloud, including date, shop location and user.
- 4
Review and process your stock
You review the collected data in PrismaNote. Once approved, the counted stock levels are processed into your stock records.
That way RFID complements your existing stock management — and insights such as your jewellery stock statistics.
Is RFID right for your jewellery shop?
Not every jeweller needs RFID straight away. For smaller collections a traditional barcode solution may be enough. The right choice depends on the size of your stock, how often you do stocktakes and how much automation you want.
RFID is especially worthwhile if you:
- Manage a large collection of jewellery or watches.
- Carry out physical stocktakes regularly.
- Spend a lot of time counting items by hand.
- Want to identify identical items individually.
- Want to digitise your stock management further.
Frequently asked questions about RFID for jewellers
What is the difference between RFID and a barcode?
A barcode usually has to be scanned individually and must be visible to do so. RFID enables wireless identification, and a suitable RFID reader can read multiple tags at once. That can speed up stocktakes.
Do I need a separate RFID printer?
If you want to create and encode RFID tags yourself, you need a suitable RFID printer. If your items already carry compatible, encoded RFID tags, a printer isn't necessary just to carry out stocktakes.
Can I scan several pieces of jewellery at once?
Yes. With compatible UHF RFID tags and a suitable reader you can read multiple items simultaneously. Results depend on factors such as the tags, how the items are arranged and the reading conditions.
Does every RFID scanner work with PrismaNote?
No. The reader must be compatible with the RFID technology and supported by PrismaNote. The tags used must also suit the application, so have the combination checked in advance.
Is my stock updated automatically after scanning?
The stocktake data is sent to the PrismaNote cloud. There you can review the results and then process the counted stock in PrismaNote.
Are all RFID tags suitable for jewellery?
No. It's important to consider the type of RFID chip, the memory capacity and compatibility with the reader and software. The practical reading conditions around jewellery and metal objects also deserve attention.
